Table Tennis Competition
On Friday 22nd July Broadland Sports Club held their first Table Tennis Competition run by table tennis coach Ernie George. The turnout was good as was the sporting play with four of the players playing for Broadland in this seasons Great Yarmouth League. The over 16 semi finals were between Alex Harley winner of group two and the runner up of group one David Sursham, Alex winning 11-7 11-9.
The other semi final was between Dom Cutter winner of group one and the runner up of group two Gilbert Lamb, this game went the distance with Gilbert winning 9-11 11-8 11-9. In the final Gilbert found the experience of Alex a little to much with Alex winning 11-5 11-4 11-3.The junior final was won by Philip Hayes who beat Daniel Copsey 11-7 11-4 12-10.
Trophies were presented by Club owner Tony Henden who thanked everyone for an exciting and fun evening, he went on to explain that he felt this was just the beginning for table tennis at the Club and hoped for the future to have more teams representing Broadland in the local leagues.
